To Upload PubMed Documents

It’s simpler than it looks!

bullet If you haven’t already, register as a new user. I’ve put in your regular MSF email address to allow you to register. If you are using a different address, let me know. You don’t need to enter a phone number when you are registering. Then, create a password.

bullet Once you’ve registered, login and you will arrive at a page My MSF.

bullet Before you start the submission, be sure you have a copy of the article in pdf format and the PubMed ID (PMID) number. The PMID is listed in the abstract in PubMed. It is this number that is used to transfer all the information into the archive.

bullet In My MSF, there is a button to start a new submission. Click on that.

bullet You will now be able to choose a topic from a drag down menu – choose the best topic for your article. Click Next.

bullet It will take you to an opening page, describe your item, that has a slot for the PubMed ID number (PMID). Enter it into the slot – ignore the “DOI” slot.

bullet Then, click the Next button, lower right, for the next 2 pages. The program will load all the info from PubMed – don’t change anything.

bullet On the 4th page the program, upload a file, will ask you to browse for the pdf. Browse and enter it there. Ignore “File description” and click Next.

bullet The next page will say file uploaded successfully. Click Next.

bullet The next page will ask you to verify submission. You usually don’t need to change anything, but if there is an error, you can make changes by following the instructions and it will take you through the previous steps again. Once you are satisfied, click Next.

bullet You will now reach the I grant the licence page – click on this.

bullet You are finished and can either return to My MSF, resubmit something else, or whatever. The article will now go into a holding file where I will verify and edit it (attributions, etc). Thanks!
